Holiday Reading List

Hello Everyone! It’s Sarah and I’m back with my latest holiday reading list. It’s my favorite reading time of the year! I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite books from last year and a few that I picked up at the library. I follow a few book accounts on Instagram and every time I see a holiday book I’m interested in, I add it to my list. It’s a very long list at the moment but I’m working my way through it over the years. I hope you find a book or two that appeals to you. Happy reading!

A Season for Second Chances by Jenny Bayliss
Annie Sharpe’s spark for life has fizzled out. Her kids are grown up, her restaurant is doing just fine on its own, and her 26-year marriage has come to an unceremonious end. Untethered for the first time in her adult life, she finds a winter guardian position in a historic seaside home and decides to leave her city life behind for a brand new beginning. When she arrives in Willow Bay, Annie is enamored by the charming house, the invigorating sea breeze, and the town’s rich seasonal traditions. Not to mention, her neighbors receive her with open arms – that is, all except the surly nephew of the homeowner, whose grand plans for the property are at odds with her residency. As Christmas approaches, tensions and tides rise in Willow Bay, and Annie’s future seems less and less certain. But with a little can-do spirit and holiday magic, the most difficult time of her life will become…a season for second chances.

I really enjoyed this book. It was one of the last ones I read during the Christmas season and it wasn’t overly holiday-themed. I’m a sucker for quaint, small-town stories and this one didn’t disappoint!

A Winter in New York by Josie Silver
When Iris decides to move to New York to restart her life, she realizes she underestimated how big the Big Apple really is—all the nostalgic movies set in New York she’d watched with her mom while eating their special secret-recipe gelato didn’t quite do it justice. But Bobby, Iris’s best friend, isn’t about to let her hide away. He drags her to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy, and as they walk through the food stalls, a little family-run gelateria catches her eye—could it be the same shop that’s in an old photo of her mother’s? Curious, Iris returns the next day and meets the handsome Gio, who tells her that the shop is in danger of closing. His uncle, sole keeper of their family’s gelato recipe, is in a coma, so they can’t make more. When Iris samples the last remaining batch, she realizes that their gelato and her gelato are one and the same. But how can she tell them she knows their secret recipe when she’s not sure why Gio’s uncle gave it to her mother in the first place? Iris offers her services as a chef to help them re-create the flavor and finds herself falling for Gio and his family. But when Gio’s uncle finally wakes up, all of the secrets Iris has been keeping threaten to ruin the new life—and new love—she’s been building all winter long.

Bright Lights Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews
When fall rolls around, it’s time for Kerry Tolliver to leave her family’s Christmas tree farm in the mountains of North Carolina for the wilds of New York City to help her gruff older brother & his dog, Queenie, sell the trees at the family stand on a corner in Greenwich Village. Sharing a tiny vintage camper and experiencing Manhattan for the first time, Kerry’s ready to try to carve out a new corner for herself. In the weeks leading into Christmas, Kerry quickly becomes close with the charming neighbors who live near their stand. When an elderly neighbor goes missing, Kerry will need to combine her country know-how with her newly acquired New York knowledge to protect the new friends she’s come to think of as family. And complicating everything is Patrick, a single dad raising his adorable, dragon-loving son Austin on this quirky block. Kerry and Patrick’s chemistry is undeniable, but what chance does this holiday romance really have?

Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
Christmas comes early—far too early—to McCredie’s little Old Town bookshop in Edinburgh. It’s summer, but an American production company has decided that McCredie’s is the perfect location to film a very cheesy Christmas movie. After all, who can resist the charmingly narrow historic street with its Victorian grey stone buildings and warmly lit shop windows? Carmen Hogan, the bookshop’s manager, is amused and a bit horrified by the goings-on, but the money the studio is paying is too good to pass up. She uses the little windfall from filming to create new displays and fend off a buyout offer from an obnoxious millionaire who wants to turn McCredie’s into a souvenir shop selling kilts made in China and plastic Nessies. Still reeling slightly from a breakup, Carmen’s not particularly looking forward to the holidays. But just as snow begins to fall and the lights of Christmas blink on, all sorts of lovely new possibilities present themselves…for McCredie’s bookstore, and for Carmen herself.

This is the sequel to The Christmas Bookshop so I’m very excited to find out what these characters are up to. Plus, who doesn’t love a story set in Edinburgh?

Once Upon a December by Amy E. Reichert
With a name like Astra Noel Snow, holiday spirit isn’t just a seasonal specialty—it’s a way of life. But after a stinging divorce, Astra’s yearly trip to the Milwaukee Christmas market takes on a whole new meaning. She’s ready to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with the handsome stranger who saves the best kringle for her at his family bakery. For Jack Clausen, the Julemarked with its snowy lights and charming shops stays the same, while the world outside the joyful street changes, magically leaping from one December to the next every four weeks. He’s never minded living this charmed existence until Astra shows him the life he’s been missing outside of the festive red brick alley. After a swoon-worthy series of dates, some Yuletide magic, and the unexpected glow of new love, Astra and Jack must decide whether this relationship can weather all seasons or if what they’re feeling is as ephemeral as marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa.

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox
When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell—both critical to her success as show judge. Meanwhile, Charlie’s identical twin, Cass, is frantically trying to hold her own life together back in their quaint mountain hometown while running the family’s bustling bakery and dealing with her ex, who won’t get the memo that they’re over.  With only days until Christmas, a desperate Charlie asks Cass to do something they haven’t done since they were kids: switch places. Looking for her own escape from reality, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. Will the twins’ identity swap be a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track?

Who doesn’t love a classic twin switcheroo storyline? This book has big city and small town vibes so you get the best of both worlds. While fairly predictable (as most holiday reads are), it was still an enjoyable read. And I drooled over all the delicious baked goods featured!

The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer
Rachel Rubenstein-Goldblatt is a nice Jewish girl with a shameful secret: she loves Christmas. For a decade she’s hidden her career as a Christmas romance novelist from her family. Her talent has made her a bestseller even as her chronic illness has always kept the kind of love she writes about out of reach. But when her diversity-conscious publisher insists she write a Hanukkah romance, her well of inspiration suddenly runs dry. Hanukkah’s not magical. It’s not merry. It’s not Christmas. Desperate not to lose her contract, Rachel’s determined to find her muse at the Matzah Ball, a Jewish music celebration on the last night of Hanukkah, even if it means working with her summer camp archenemy—Jacob Greenberg. Though Rachel and Jacob haven’t seen each other since they were kids, their grudge still glows brighter than a menorah. But as they spend more time together, Rachel finds herself drawn to Hanukkah—and Jacob—in a way she never expected. Maybe this holiday of lights will be the spark she needed to set her heart ablaze.

This was my favorite holiday read last year! It was so funny and also wonderful to learn more about Hanukkah and other Jewish traditions. Highly recommend!

Three Holidays and a Wedding by Uzma Jalaluddin and Marissa Stapley
As strangers and seatmates Maryam Aziz and Anna Gibson fly to Toronto over the holidays—Maryam to her sister’s impromptu wedding, and Anna to meet her boyfriend’s wealthy family for the first time—neither expect that severe turbulence will scare them into confessing their deepest hopes and fears to one another. At least they’ll never see each other again. And the love of Maryam’s life, Saif, wasn’t sitting two rows behind them hearing it all. Oops. An emergency landing finds Anna, Saif, Maryam, and her sister’s entire bridal party snowbound at the quirky Snow Falls Inn in a picture-perfect town, where fate has Anna’s actor-crush filming a holiday romance. As Maryam finds the courage to open her heart to Saif, and Anna feels the magic of being snowbound with an unexpected new love—both women soon realize there’s no place they’d rather be for the holidays.

On my nightstand TBR stack. I love that there are multiple storylines. I’m always intrigued by books that are written by multiple authors.

This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
Minnie Cooper knows two things with certainty: that her New Year’s birthday is unlucky, and that it’s all because of Quinn Hamilton, a man she’s never met. Their mothers gave birth to them at the same hospital just after midnight on New Year’s Day, but Quinn was given the cash prize for being the first baby born in London in 1990–and the name Minnie was meant to have, as well. With luck like that, it’s no wonder each of her birthdays has been more of a disaster than the one before. When Minnie unexpectedly runs into Quinn at a New Year’s party on their mutual thirtieth birthday, she sees only more evidence that fortune has continued to favor him. The gorgeous, charming business owner truly seems to have it all–while Minnie’s on the brink of losing her pie-making company and her home. But if Quinn and Minnie are from different worlds, why do they keep bumping into each other? And why is it that each fraught encounter leaves them both wanting more?

Save this one for the end of your holiday reading as it takes place over several New Year’s Eves. This one was a fun way to end my holiday reading season!

If you’re looking for more holiday reads, be sure to check out last year’s holiday reading  list which has some excellent options as well!

Thanksgiving Table Setting

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year when we gather with family and friends to express gratitude and share a delicious meal. One of the most important aspects is the Thanksgiving table setting. A beautifully set table can create a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages conversation and connection. Setting a Thanksgiving table can seem like a daunting task, but with a little planning and creativity, it can be a fun and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips for setting a beautiful Thanksgiving table:

1. Start with a Tablecloth or Runner

The first step in setting a Thanksgiving table is to choose a tablecloth or runner. This will set the foundation for your table setting and can help to create a cohesive look. Traditional fall colors like orange, red, and yellow are popular choices, but you can also choose a neutral color like white or cream. For this table setting, I wanted a show stopper so I used a beautiful dark blue and white patterned tablecloth. I love how it adds dimension to the more neutral elements.

2. Add Plates and Silverware

Once you have your tablecloth or runner in place, it’s time to add plates and silverware. Begin with a dinner plate, followed by a salad plate, if desired. Place your dinner fork on the left side of the plate and the salad fork outside of that-smallest on the outside. Your knife and spoon go on the right side. You’ll want to put your napkins underneath the forks if you aren’t using napkin rings. If you’re rolling your napkins with a ring, place them next to the forks. If you’re serving soup, you can add a soup spoon on the outside of the knife. I used a rattan placemat underneath the dinner plates to add a bit of texture and bring in a bit of a coastal theme.

3. Add Glassware

Next, add glassware to your table. A water glass should be placed above the knife, and a wine glass can be placed to the right of the water glass. If you’re serving multiple types of wine, you can add a wine glass for each type. I brought in more rattan with the water glasses to align with the chargers. They have a different weave and colorway so that it’s not too matchy. I used tortoise glasses to bring in another colorway to the table to add dimension. I also placed rattan coasters on the table for any pre-dinner cocktails that make it to the table and a rattan-wrapped wine cooler. To tie in the centerpiece, I pulled in this wine caddy which can also double as a decorative candle holder.

4. Create a Centerpiece

A beautiful centerpiece can help to tie your Thanksgiving table together and create a focal point. You can use a simple floral arrangement or create a more elaborate centerpiece with candles, pumpkins, and other fall décor. Just make sure that your centerpiece is not so tall that it obstructs the view of guests across the table. I wanted a touch of glam for this centerpiece so I used a champagne bowl filled with magnolia leaves to bring in a natural element and the green of the leaves coordinates nicely with the tablecloth. I placed the bucket on a white marble serving tray and scattered faux artichokes, apples, and clementines around the base to add in more pops of color. We’re still using traditional fall colors but in a fun and fresh way.

You can find more inspiration for Thanksgiving table settings over on my Fall LTK page.  If you’re looking for more fall decor, see how I added fall touches to our home this year. A few years ago we hosted a Thanksgiving happy hour in our greenhouse. See how I decorated this casual space in this post.

Our Living Room Wallpaper Refresh

I recently had a sudden urge to refresh our living room space. On a whim, I decided to use this peel-and-stick faux grasscloth wallpaper that I had a bit extra of from another project. I am thrilled that it turned out better than expected and I am extremely happy with the outcome!

In addition to being a great way to add warmth and texture to a space, this peel-and-stick wallpaper is also incredibly easy to install and remove. Unlike traditional wallpaper, which can be a nightmare to put up and take down without a professional, peel-and-stick wallpaper can be installed in just a few hours and removed without damaging the walls.

The faux grasscloth that I used was so realistic. The texture and depth of the wallpaper created an instant traditional look that really transformed the space. There are so many colorway options available in the wallpaper that you’re sure to find the perfect color for your home project. I used the blue grasscloth wallpaper in our Cove Hollow home and instantly fell in love with it. It adds that little something extra to a space.

The addition of the new grasscloth wallpaper gave our living room an instant refresh. It added a layer of warmth and texture to the space that was previously bare and lacking in character. The classic and traditional look of the faux grasscloth wallpaper really transformed the room, making it feel more inviting and cozy for the upcoming winter season. It was amazing to see how one simple change could have such a big impact on the overall look and feel of the space.

You can see how I used the blue grasscloth wallpaper in our Cove Hollow home here. If you’re looking for other wallpaper options, see all of my favorites (including the grasscloth peel-and-stick) from Amazon here.

Adding Fall Touches to Your Home

This time of year, I enjoy adding fall touches to our home. Fall is when we start spending more time indoors and settling into our homes for the season. We add layers for warmth, spend more time in our kitchen, create new playlists, and get cozy.

One of the easiest ways to bring in the cozy is by bringing the outdoors in. I love finding branches with fall leaves and putting them in vases around our house. This is also a very cost-effective way to decorate for the season. Another great way to layer in fall touches is with throw blankets. Not only do they add warmth, but they can also bring in a pop of color or pattern. I also love to incorporate brass decor. This can include anything from candleholders to picture frames to trays. The warm tones of brass add a touch of sophistication while still being on-trend for the season.

And speaking of candles, they are a great way to add a warm and inviting atmosphere to any room. A favorite fall-scented candle or battery-operated candles can help you create a cozy ambiance that’s perfect for fall. I love fall evenings by the fireplace with a glass of wine and burning a favorite candle. With these simple touches, you can transform your home into a cozy and inviting space that’s perfect for the season.

If you are into seasonal items like pumpkins, try mixing those into your decor. I love our blue and white porcelain pumpkins (I have this one and this cute little one). They blend so well with these rattan vases. It is a simple yet effective way to add touches of fall to your home.

Halloween Decorating

Halloween decorating was never something I was into before having children and I am sure many of you can relate! However, decorating at home with kids can be a fun and playful experience! We work together to transform parts of our house for the spooky season and I must admit, I love it more than I ever thought I would!

Some of my favorite and inexpensive Halloween favorites can be purchased through Amazon. We hung whimsical witch hats from the ceiling, as if they were floating in the air along with battery-operated flameless candles!  We have also scattered paper bats on the walls to create an eerie atmosphere.

This year we put fuzzy spiders on the outside of the house, crawling up the walls, giving everyone a delightful shiver as they approach. For an extra festive touch, I discovered that setting up a trick-or-treat bar cart by the front door, laden with glass bowls of mouth-watering candy is a fun and easy way to dish out sweet treats to all who come knocking! I like to put it out during the day as well for our mail carrier and delivery drivers. Who couldn’t use a little sweet treat now and then?

I hope this inspires you to do some Halloween decorating with your little ones! You can find these favorites in one place here. Be sure to check out more of my Halloween favorites in this Amazon storefront post.

Wallpapers in My Home

Wallpapers in My Home

I love wallpaper and how it can transform simple, dry-walled spaces into ones filled with character and depth. I still remember the first room in our home where I had wallpaper installed and the incredible change that occurred with this beautiful material. Over the years, I have received many messages about the wallpapers in my home, which inspired me to create a guide to help you source each of these wallpapers.

Home Wallpaper Ideas

When it comes to choosing wallpaper, a variety of options are available, including traditional wallpaper and peel-and-stick wallpaper. Traditional wallpaper often boasts high-quality designs that can last for years, making it a fantastic choice for creating a stunning focal point in any room.

On the other hand, peel-and-stick wallpaper offers an easy and flexible solution, perfect for those who love the option to change their decor frequently or for renters looking to personalize their space without damaging the walls. Peel-and-stick options come in a wide array of patterns and textures, allowing for creativity and customization that can suit any aesthetic, from modern minimalism to vintage charm.

When choosing wallpaper, consider the overall theme and color palette of your space. Bold, dramatic prints can energize a room, while soft, subtle designs can create a calm, serene environment. Additionally, consider the scale of the patterns—larger patterns can make a smaller room feel more spacious, while smaller prints can add detail and interest to larger areas.

Another important aspect to consider is the texture of the wallpaper. Textured wallpapers can add a tactile element to a room, enhancing the overall experience. From grass cloth to embossed designs, textures can create depth and visual interest.

Also, don’t forget about the finishing touches that can elevate the look of your wallpapered space. Molding and trim can frame the wallpaper beautifully, while carefully chosen furniture and accessories can complement the patterns and colors in your wallpaper.

Laundry Room

Our laundry and mudroom happens to be the back entrance into our home, and the room had bare white drywall and just didn’t feel warm and inviting. This blue and white paper caught my eye with its traditional yet playful design. It created such a joyous and happy environment to complete one of life’s daily chores, and cheerfully greets you when you walk in the door! This is a traditional style paper so we had it professionally installed but it now comes in a peel and stick removable version as well!

Primary Bedroom

A few years ago, I decided I was ready to add more personality to our bedroom in my favorite shade of blue.  I had been holding on to a swatch of Quadrille Fabric’s Happy Garden Reverse in the most beautiful pale blue for something unique.  When this paper was installed in our room, it instantly made the space feel cozier and more sophisticated.  I love the pattern on the pattern, so it was fun to mix this paper with a printed batik quilt and our pale blue nightstands.  This paper is incredibly soothing to me and has elevated the look of our bedroom! Schumacher’s classic Chenonceau Sky is a second favorite and gives a similar look!

Powder Bath

I knew I wanted to add more wallpapers to my home, and instantly, this gorgeous green and blue wallpaper from Meg Braff was a game-changer in this bathroom.  The walls transitioned from a dark navy to a light, bright, and cheerful space!  I smile every time I walk in here.  I wanted to add more touches of green throughout our house, and this was how I started.

The Stairway

We live in an early 1900s farmhouse, and typical of that era, our home has a very narrow, steep staircase to the second floor.  This might have been the most significant transformation in our house.  The walls were bare and very dull.  I took a chance and wallpapered the entire stairway and the small vestibule below it with Serena and Lily’s feather wallpaper in bone.  I opted for a neutral paper that complemented the green and blue tones in the bathroom, located just off the vestibule.  I love that this is patterned yet subtle.  It has the slightest texture and has created the perfect backdrop for a gallery wall of fun art prints! This same paper is also available now in a peel-and-stick removable option!

Finley’s Bedroom

This peel-and-stick powder blue wallpaper in Finley’s room feels like a breath of fresh air. The soft blue color has worked perfectly as she has transitioned from a little girl to a teenager. Before using this wallpaper, we had only papered one wall, which drove me crazy since I’m not a fan of accent walls. At that time, we chose to wallpaper just one wall to stay within budget. I was thrilled to switch things up and use this peel-and-stick wallpaper throughout her entire room. It looks stunning and genuinely resembles traditional wallpaper!

Primary Bathroom

Our primary bathroom, located off our bedroom, needed a significant makeover. It was a labor of love for me, and it took several months for everything to come together. I went with my favorite color scheme to brighten the space: blue and white. It’s now such a fun yet serene space for me to unwind at the end of the day. For years, I had been wanting to use Quadrille’s Climbing Hydrangea wallpaper somewhere, so I found this remodel to be the perfect opportunity! Schumacher’s Hydrangea Drap Delft Wallpaper is a very similar paper. You can read all about our bathroom remodel here and how I styled it with items from The Home Depot.

Henry’s Bedroom

I used warmer tones for Henry’s bedroom to give it a more grown-up feel and set his room apart from his younger brothers’ space. With the neutral gingham and headboard, I chose a grasscloth wallpaper for his walls. Although the exact one I used is no longer available, Serena and Lily’s Swansea Paperweight wallpaper is a similar option.

I hope seeing the wallpapers in my home inspires you to use wallpaper in yours. Remember to embrace your style and choose designs that resonate with you. Wallpaper can be a reflection of your personality, so whether you gravitate towards bold geometrics, florals, or subtle patterns, let your choices tell your story. With the right wallpaper, you can truly create a space that feels uniquely yours

Favorite planters for fall

As the leaves start to change and the air gets crisp, it’s time to start thinking about decorating for fall. One of my favorite ways to spruce up my home’s exterior is by decorating my front porch with seasonal decor. This year I selected beautiful white mums. They’re the quintessential fall flower, and they come in so many gorgeous colors. But what kind of planter should you use for your mums? There are a few different options, depending on your style and budget. If you want something classic and timeless, my favorite blue and white planters are always a great choice. They’re affordable, and they’ll look great year after year. I also love these chippendale style planters that I keep my faux boxwood balls in. They are metal, come in green and white, and they will add a pop of shine to your porch. Plus, they’re durable and weather-resistant. For a more textured look, try a woven planter. They’re perfect for a farmhouse-style home, and they’ll give your porch a cozy, inviting feel.

No matter what kind of planter you choose, make sure to plant your mums in well-draining soil and give them plenty of water. With a little TLC, they’ll thrive all season long and make your porch the envy of the neighborhood. I’ll share some of my favorite planters below! Happy fall decorating!

I’ve also been updating both my wardrobe and the house, so I wanted to share with you what I’m currently loving!

Pippen House Duvet Starter Set

Never again will I have to endure the frustration of my duvet getting all bunched up in the corners, thanks to the incredible new system. Their innovative design includes side zippers, ensuring the duvet stays perfectly in place all night. No more waking up to a wadded-up mess while you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep! It’s truly a game-changer in the world of bedding!

After a summer of travel it feels good to have cozy evenings at home. There is nothing like a cashmere robe and a good candle to start off cozy season. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.

My Favorite Rattan Pendants

see+more+at+www.margaretofyork.jpeg

Rattan pendants have been having a moment for a couple of years now and I am particularly fond of this moment. I absolutely love the instant texture rattan adds to any space. It helps create a layered beachy feeling and who doesn’t love that? They look fantastic over the kitchen island, over a dining table, or in a hallway or stairwell. They even make outdoor rattan pendants to brighten up your porch or patio! I have many rattan pendants in our farmhouse and at our beach house. I love to use them in client projects as well as a statement piece.

At first glance, a lot of these pendants might look similar to you. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the type of rattan materials they use may be different and some of them feature a more open weave versus a more closed weave. With the more open weaves, you may be able to notice the light bulb so if this bothers you, stick with the closed weave options. These days they come in so many shapes and sizes that you’re sure to find one that speaks to you!

Here are some of my favorite rattan pendants!

Bell Pendants

Round Pendants

Tapered Pendants

Uniquely Shaped Rattan Pendants

If you’re not looking for a pendant but are in the market for lamps, I have an entire post dedicated to lamps to use around your home and I have even more lighting selections on my Shop page.

Ginger Jar Roundup

I am so excited to share my ginger jar roundup with all of you! Ginger Jars have been around for quite some time. They were originally used to store spices in China. No longer used for their intended purpose, they have become widely popular in home decor. I have used them in displays, filled them as vases, and in beautifully collected groupings. Most popular in blue and white patterns but available in all color schemes; I think ginger jars are such happy pieces of pottery. I found some really pretty patterns featuring pinks and yellows and they always stop me in my tracks. I love using ginger jars in my shelf styling, on coffee tables, and they look beautiful as centerpieces on the dining table.

I have found some of my favorites at thrift and antique shops but there are so many great online stores to purchase them from. I love to hunt for them in shops but sometimes it’s great to see all your options on a website. See my ginger jar roundup with some beautiful options for you below.

I leave my ginger jars out year-round. See how I styled them in this Holiday Decor with Cailini Coastal post. If you love the blue and white look and the chinoiserie style, Cailini Coastal is my go-to place to shop.

Backyard Plans with Yardzen

Our backyard has been a great outdoor space for us over the past few years, but it’s starting to show signs of wear and tear. We’ve made the decision to completely refresh the area, and while I’ve spent countless hours planning interiors, I’m at a loss when it comes to landscape and hardscape plans. Figuring out the best plan for the yard was overwhelming, and I knew I needed help. A friend recommended making backyard plans with Yardzen, an online landscape design service that takes into account your favorite plants, flowers, and furnishings to create a custom plan. You set the budget and can choose to DIY your project or have Yardzen professionals help with installation. They provide amazing renderings (we love ours!) and a shopping list for furnishings and plants.

I was thrilled when I saw the renderings of our backyard plans. The patio, hydrangeas, and window boxes looked stunning and will be the perfect place for hosting get-togethers during warm weather. I’m especially excited about having a fire pit for chilly nights. I was pleased to see that they included my favorite outdoor coffee table and rug in the design.

The team selected Annabelle hydrangeas, dwarf English boxwoods, and climbing roses for a soft pink pop of color. I think all of these plants will add a lot of charm to our yard. They also included some plants that I’m not familiar with, but they look beautiful and will be a nice addition to our space.

I highly recommend making backyard plans with Yardzen if you need help with your landscape and hardscape plans. They make the process so easy! Check out their design packages to see what suits you best.

Back-to-School Amazon Finds

It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down and it’s time for school to start again. I pulled together my favorite back-to-school Amazon finds to help you streamline your shopping. We have had a busy summer and while I will miss my time with my kids, I am ready for all of us to be back on a schedule. What I love most about these back-to-school Amazon finds is that they come in various colors so there are a lot of options to choose from that and you can hopefully find them in your child’s favorite colors. We are lucky in that our kids wear uniforms at school so that aspect of back-to-school shopping is a bit easier for us. It’s mostly about updating what they have grown out of or need more of. It also reduces the stress of what to wear for the first day of school. I hope you and your children have the best school year!

In the spirit of Kathleen Kelly: “I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”

You can find more back-to school items in my Amazon storefront here. If you are looking for what to fill in their lunch boxes, I have a whole Amazon storefront dedicated to that as well! If you are stressing about this season, be sure to read my Back to School Self-Care Routine blog post. It has my favorite tips and tricks to fill your cup no matter how much time you have.
