Fall Home Update with Birch Lane

Each new season is the perfect time to refresh and reset your home. I enjoy refreshing, purging, and organizing our spaces at this time of year. I often look around our home and identify neglected areas. I recently partnered with Birch Lane for a much-needed update to a hallway in our home. In today’s post, I will share how we added a beautiful bookshelf and created a functional and charming drop zone.

Start with your main piece

I was looking for a new bookshelf to display coffee table books, decor items, and touches of seasonal decor. The Elin bookcase fit perfectly into this space, and I thought the price was great! I loved the classic lines on this piece and the brass ring pulls. While it has shelves, I love the drawer feature where you can tuck away items that don’t need to be displayed but need to be nearby. I plan on using it to store all the candlesticks and holders I use throughout the year. I chose the white bookshelf to pop against our blue grasscloth wallpaper, but the navy colorway is also gorgeous!

Lighting is always a good idea

I added the Donati floor lamp because every space needs a touch of warmth that doesn’t come from overhead lighting. This narrow, sleek lamp would be an excellent addition to any living space. I balanced out the other side of the bookshelf with a rattan storage basket that I find perfect for storing throw blankets or shoes!

Functionality is key

I have always enjoyed styling bookshelves with beautiful decor pieces, but I also like to keep each surface functional. The Edelie 2-piece decorative boxes were the perfect addition because they are great for storing mail, photos, or even keys. They are also beautiful decor pieces that stand out on the white shelves! I put them on separate shelves to balance the overall design. These and the wicker basket near the bottom helped bring texture and warmth while also being great storage solutions.

Shop your home

I shopped my home to add various heights and textures to the overall look of the remaining items. Shopping your own home is truly underrated! I added coffee table books in warm tones because of the approaching fall season. If you are running low on decor pieces, folded blankets on shelves make a beautiful statement and are a great filler. It is one of my favorite styling hacks! And again, because of fall, I had to add some faux mini pumpkins and fresh dahlias that came straight from the garden. I then added a decorative coat hook for jackets or sweaters and the cutest sweater weather pendant I found on Etsy!

This hallway feels seasonally fresh and perfectly blends classic design and functional storage. A perfect mini fall home update!
