Spring is on its way, and it is one of my favorite seasons! It is a time of renewal, with warmer temperatures, longer days, and more opportunities to spend time outside. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of fresh sheets, open windows, blooming flowers, and the sweet fragrance of lilac in the air on a spring day. Getting your home ready for a new season can be daunting, but it shouldn’t be. Today, I wanted to share some simple ways to refresh your home for spring.
Simple Ways to Refresh Your Home for Spring
It’s the Perfect Time to Update Your Linens
There is nothing like a new crisp set of sheets. Refreshing your sheets is a simple luxury that can transform your sleeping experience. The feeling of sliding into bed with freshly laundered sheets is pure bliss. I have two favorite sets of sheets. I long-time fan of the Lands End Non-Iron Supima Cotton sheets and have suggested these to my clients over the years. They are often on sale too! I recently got a set of these heavenly bamboo sheets. New linens make your bedroom feel cozy and inviting, also making it harder to get out of bed. It is also a good time to remove heavy layers and add more breathable materials like cotton blankets. If you are not ready to invest in new linens, I suggest laundering all linens and bedding, including your mattress cover, pillow protectors, and bed skirt. While everything is in the wash, I like to take the opportunity to vacuum and rotate our mattress to help preserve its life. These simple steps will make your bedroom feel fresh and ready for the season.
This is also an excellent time for a bath towel update. I have always been a big fan of these piped-edge bath towels. You can personalize them to match your bathroom, giving the space a little extra detail! I love to wash all of my linens with this favorite detergent. It smells amazing.
Update Your Throw Pillows
Updating your throw pillows is a simple yet impactful way to give your living space a new look. Changing the throw pillows or pillow covers in your space can introduce brightly colored patterns or textures that rejuvenate your living room’s overall look. You can use varying sizes, shapes, colors, and patterns. This is one of the easiest ways to change your decor seasonally or add a pop of color, keeping your home current and inviting. If you are changing the pillow covers, it’s a good time to check your inserts and see if they need replacement. Coordinating with a decorative throw blanket can also enhance the look. Updating these decor items makes a significant impact.
Be Thoughtful with Details
One simple way to refresh your home for spring is by adding small details, like fresh flowers, to the coffee table to enhance your mood and brighten your space. This is a great way to bring the outdoors in! After a long winter, I also like to purchase new candles. I love the scent of lilac and the nostalgia it brings. This lilac candle is one of my favorites to burn in early spring in my kitchen. It holds me off until I can clip those beautiful purple flowers with dark green stems myself. I love to open the windows and let the sunshine in as I prepare dinner while enjoying a good playlist. I also love refreshing my kitchen towels, hand soaps, and other small home accessories at this time as well. The most uncomplicated and often overlooked updates can significantly impact the overall feel of a home. Adding these new touches can create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Reset Your Most Used Spaces
We often become accustomed to our most frequently used spaces at home being disorganized. It’s always a good idea to declutter and organize your space seasonally to prevent a more significant edit in the future. I like to start with a deep clean and remove broken or unnecessary items. I think it is great to donate the things you no longer need or use. Once you’ve cleared out the unnecessary items, you can reorganize the remaining ones with the help of baskets and bins. This will create more space and make it easier for you to find the things you need quickly. You can also add labels to the bins or baskets to keep things organized.
I added these floating shelves above the washer and dryer to help manage my vases and baskets in our laundry room. I love displaying them when they are not in use. They not only keep everything organized but also add a nice decorative touch to the space. I chose sleek, modern shelves with cane detail that complement the room’s colors. It feels great to have everything neatly arranged, and I can easily access the items I need. Plus, having some greenery on the shelves with a few small plants really brightens up the laundry room!
Tidy Up Your Outdoor Spaces
Being outdoors is one of my favorite parts of the spring/summer season. I love dining or just sitting outside when the weather permits. We always take a weekend to clean up our outdoor spaces so we can enjoy them. It’s impressive how quickly the patio can clean up with a leaf blower and good weeding. We enjoy spending time outdoors when the weather is nice and want our outdoor spaces to feel comfortable and inviting. We love this dining table on our patio at Cove Hollow House. Whenever we want to dine outdoors, we put a pretty tablecloth on it and always bring out these lamps for a little evening glow. This makes dining in so much more special. The fresh air, good food, and laughter make these moments unforgettable. Outdoor living truly elevates the beauty of spring and summer for us, and we cherish every opportunity to enjoy our little slice of nature at Cove Hollow House. Whether it’s a quiet morning coffee or a lively evening dinner, our outdoor space brings us so much joy. You can find more sources from our Cove Hollow House in Watercolor, FL. here.
When to Decorate Your Home for Spring
I typically feel the urge to decorate for spring in late February or early March. Of course, the timing depends on your climate and personal schedule. This is an excellent time for us before the kids get busy with their sports schedules. I like to start with a deep clean before decorating or refreshing. It feels good to start each new season with a deep clean and a blank slate. You can gradually introduce changes, such as fresh flowers or spring-scented candles, to add spring touches to your home.
