Simple Ways to Add Curb Appeal to your Home

Adding curb appeal to your home is a great way to make a positive first impression and increase the overall value of your property. Whether you’re looking to sell your home or simply want to enhance its appearance, there are many simple ways to add curb appeal to your home.

Refresh your doormat

I love sweeping outside our front door and making sure our entry is welcoming and clean for our guests.  It is also believed to be good luck in feng shui as it is believed that keeping your front door entry clean will bring luck and opportunities. I love to sweep it off and add a doormat for some charm! Here are a few recent favorites.

Update your mailbox

Updating your address numbers and mailbox can add a touch of personality and style to your home’s exterior. Choose easy-to-read numbers and consider a mailbox that complements the overall style of your home.

Paint your front door

Your front door is the focal point of your home’s exterior, so giving it a facelift can have a significant impact on the overall look of your home. Consider giving your front door a fresh coat of paint in a bold color, adding a decorative wreath, or installing new hardware or a beautiful door knocker for a quick and easy update.

Exterior Lights

Nothing says “welcome home” in the evenings than pulling up in the drive and seeing our home all aglow with our exterior lights. It provides that coziness we all yearn for in our homes. You could also install pathway lights and uplighting for trees. From wall sconces on the front porch to string lights stretched over our back patio area, adding a variety of exterior lighting you love is something you won’t regret.

Update your planters

One of my favorite ways to add curb appeal to our home is by updating our planters. It’s such an easy way to change out the look of your home by planting seasonal flowers and plants. I use a variety of smaller terracotta and blue and white chinoiserie planters combined with larger classic Chippendale planters. This adds variety in both shape and size for an overall cohesive look.

For more outdoor inspiration, I have several blog posts about updating our porch seasonally and our design plan for updating our backyard.
