It’s hard to believe we are at the end of May. How is that even possible? Summer is officially here which means we are grilling and making lots of salads.

I found this recipe on Pinterest and it is pretty amazing. It’s going to be on repeat around here this summer.

 

 

Summer must haves

When it comes to summer I love to throw on a cute dress, slides, and sunnies. Keep it easy and it makes getting dressed even easier. I love a little tan too but don’t want all the wrinkles that come with it so I love using a self tanner every now and then and I apply with a mit. This is super important! and exfoliate first! Simply Elsa’s 5 Intentions for Summer

I recently read Elsa’s blog post on creating seasonal and daily intentions and it really hit home. Rather than focusing on a a resolution which we know puts so much pressure on each of us she chooses to focus on each season and day at hand. Happy Friday. From lilacs to peonies, my vases have been full of beauties from the backyard. This year I planted ten new peony plants that a friend picked up for me at a peony farm in southern Illinois. I am so excited to see how they do each year and it is going to be so hard to not cut from them for the first three years which is what is recommended. But you better believe year 3 we are filling those vases full of the coral variety I got! A couple of years ago I held my un bloomed peonies. It was exciting to pull them out of the fridge every couple of weeks to have new fresh blooms. Some worked and some did not. Here is an article on how to hold your blooms!

Happy Saturday morning. This was suppose to be up yesterday but sometimes we get busy and have to play catch up. That pretty much sums up the last week for me!

Last week we had the most gorgeous weather and we had dinner outside as much as possible. My mom bought me this beautiful table cloth in France, these were my grandmothers placemats and I just bought these beautiful napkins. It’s lilac season and they finished off the table beautifully. Just setting this outdoor table with pretty items made the dinner that much more special. I linked similar items for you below. The table and chairs are new.

Target purchases

A day behind and I apologize but yesterday I took the morning and went to Target alone. It was a whole new way of shopping. Face mask and all. I had not been inside of Target since early February, before our Florida vacation. I must say I enjoyed it! The spring clothes weren’t picked over, the only thing missing was hand soap. I took my time drank my coffee and enjoyed! Here are some of my favorite purchases from yesterday’s trip.

Playlist

After a lot of requests I put together a playlist on Spotify. I have always used Apple Music but wanted a place where you can listen for free. The playlist is Margaret of York and it is a collective mix of music for everyday. Enjoy!

 

 

Alexa

I have been eyeing a friend of mine’s Alexa Echo Show and I finally just bought my own. What a game changer! I have mine in my kitchen and I can play all of my playlists, watch the news, weather, ask questions, make grocery lists, you name it… I love it!

This past week I shared with you a magazine feature that I was the design contributor for. This was such a fun project to work on and I am so excited to have been included in a new magazine with some extremely talented people. Another Friday has come so quickly. The days are long but the weeks feel like they are flying by.

I have been editing my home ruthlessly. Working hard to lighten and brighten and make it feel like the only place I want to be, well because it’s the only place I can be right now. I probably could have one heck of a sale soon. Our storage unit is filling up quickly.

Chickpea Powered Couscous

I have an obsession with this meal. I make it on repeat and it is just as good cold out of the fridge the next day! Make sure you get the pearl couscous. You can make so many different variations of this as well.

 

Accessories

Right now pretty accessories are making my basic white tee and jeans wardrobe feel a little extra special. I don’t feel like shopping for clothes right now. So weird for me, I know… but accessories I can get behind shopping for. Especially a pair of statement earrings.

Bubble Baths

I’ve been enjoying a good bubble bath lately in the evening before bed. It’s becoming part of my night time routine and helps me sleep better. My baths always include:

Happy Friday. It has been a busy and productive week. We had a little glimmer of sunshine and warmth and I was able to get so much done in the yard which felt amazing. I love working in the yard all day and then coming in for a hot shower and glass of wine. It feels so good to rest your head at night knowing how much you have accomplished.

I have also been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately. Here are my kitchen essentials. I try to keep my kitchen aesthetic clean and neutral. The gold touch pans are my favorite. Make sure you get the non corrugated. Also my favorite crockpot is currently on sale. I have been using it a ton lately! The marble tray is great to put next to your sink to hold your favorite hand soap and scrubber.

Garden season

I think my garden and greenhouse will be my saving grace this spring. I am so excited that Brooke and Lou is launching a garden line next week. I can only imagine all of the beautiful garden pieces they will have!

 

Staying IN

There has never been a better time for comfortable clothes. I’m loving a cozy sweatshirt to throw on with shorts, jeans, or leggings right now.

Pizza toast

This recipe has been a hit lately with my kids. Super easy and you probably have the ingredients already at home! Even better they can have fun building them by themselves!
